I take lansoprazole to tame esophagitis and reflux/heartburn due to achalasia -- since I can't swallow, the dissolvable stuff is amazing, and it works so quickly to reduce and prevent pain. No side effects at all, but I can definitely tell when I've forgotten to take it, which tells me that it does work!

I was prescribed this drug to ease the effects of a stomach ulcer. This has helped reduce the nausea, sickness and stomach pain significantly. I take a tablet daily and life is much more pleasant. It works for me and I can now get on with my life. I still have the odd day so I have rated it a 4 as it hasn't cured the problem, 100%, but from where I was, the improvement is huge.

I was taking Omeprazole and found that I was having really bad 'night sweats'. My GP found this was a 'side-effect' and changed me over to Lansoprazole, which solved the problem.

I found that eating fruit made my acid reflux and the pain in my stomach worse. Avoid fresh orange, mango anything like that. It's painful... Even when taking the tablets. Had an endoscopy and they couldn't see anything. I still suffer. Sometimes I daren't eat ..

My reaction to Lansoprazole was chest tightness with shortness of breath with difficulty eating, talking and walking, increased coughing, feeling very weak, symptoms increasing and lasting longer each day after taking each tablet until symptoms were all the time with some tremor and generally feeling ill. Once I stopped the Lansoprazole I began to improve and all the above symptoms cleared.

Profile

Lansoprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Lansoprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
